Honda HR-V Crossover

2017 Honda Ridgeline Pickup Truck

Set to debut at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, the new pickup truck is wider and longer than the previous generation, measuring an additional 5.4 inches (13.7 centimeters) in width and 4 inches (10 cm) in length – sporting a four-foot wide flat bed, with a fully flat-floor which can withstand and a maximum payload capacity of 1,600 pounds (725 kilograms).

To top it off, the bed is apparently scratch-resistant and comes with a dual action tailgate, a 400-watt AC power inverter and an in-bed audio system that uses six exciters placed inside the bed wall in order to release sound coming from the truck's audio system for a total output of 540 watts.

The 2017 Honda Ridgeline will be powered exclusively by a 3.5-litre V6 mated to a six-speed automatic gearbox, which Honda says it will ensure best-in-class acceleration and fuel economy, and will be available in both front and all-wheel-drive configurations. The AWD system will incorporate Honda's Intelligent Terrain Management, providing several modes: Normal, Sand, Snow, and Mud.

As expected from a brand new model, it will be available with a plethora of safety equipment, including Collision Mitigation Braking, Lane Departure Warning, Road Departure Mitigation, Forward Collision Warning, and Lane Keeping Assist. Moreover, all of the models will get a multi-angle rearview camera as standard.

The high-performance pickup truck has been put to the test on over 1,028 miles (1,654 km) of desert trail designed to parallel the Baja race course in Mexico. Trucks covered multiple times the 66-mile (106-km) route, which featured a wide range of surfaces including fast sandy washes, deep-rutted silt beds, steep climbs in deep sand, and slow crawls through tight trenches.

Ford says the truck topped speeds of 100 mph (161 mph) in places, slowing to 10 mph (16 km/h) in others, for an average speed of approximately 50 mph (80 km/h) . Based on lap times, the 2017 Raptor is 25 percent faster than the current truck. At the end of each lap, the new F-150 Raptor completed a tabletop jump consisting of a steep ramp up to a two-foot plateau, then a step-off back to level ground. The vehicles tested were early build prototypes made from a mix of 2015 F-150 Raptor and 2017 F-150 Raptor components.

According to Ford, engineers pushed the 2017 Raptor harder in a few days than it will be pushed over the lifetime of a typical vehicle, far exceeding what an owner would do on the trail. Ford will continue testing the next Raptor next year, with sales scheduled to begin in fall 2016.

2016 Ford F-150 Special Edition Packages

America's best-selling truck for 38 years is now available with new Special Edition Packages, SYNC 3, all-new Pro Trailer Backup Assist and alternative fuel capability. Available for XLT and Lariat trim levels, the Special Edition Packages enhance the F-150's appearance to suit customer tastes via new design accessories. These include all-new unique 20-inch premium anodized dark-painted aluminum wheels with red sport lettering, black running boards, smoked headlamps and unique body side graphics and badging. XLT models get a dark anodized grille with black mesh, while the Lariat's dark anodized grille features red accents.

Inside, the models get special edition seats with Alcantara inserts, red contrast stitching and red bolsters, as well as unique red stitching on the steering wheel, transmission gear selector boot and instrument panel.

Besides the styling upgrades, the 2016 Ford F-150 pickup is available with SYNC 3, Ford’s newest infotainment system that promises enhanced voice recognition, high-speed performance and capacitive touch screen, as well as easier-to-understand graphical interface.

The truck is also offered with the all-new Pro Trailer Backup Assist system, which makes it easier for drivers to back a trailer up. The technology allows customers to steer a trailer instinctively by turning a knob left or right to indicate direction, while the truck controls its steering and limits vehicle speed using advanced camera technology.

The French brand's first pickup truck model is based on their low-cost Dacia Duster SUV and it's primarily aimed at South American markets where nearly 1 million vehicles of this type are sold every year. Renault previewed the Duster Oroch with a concept model late last year in Brazil, giving us a pretty accurate idea of the production car that drops the study's fancier trimmings, colors and lights, but otherwise, is almost identical.

According to Renault, the Oroch offers "impeccable accessibility thanks to the four doors, generous internal space due to five proper seats, a generous bed and the proven robustness and reliability of Renault Duster".

In Argentina, the Duster Oroch will be available with 1.6-liter and a 2.0-liter four-cylinder gasoline engines, and will also feature the brand's new Media NAV Evolution infotainment system with navigation and a 7-inch touch-screen.
