New VW Passat BlueMotion

The new VW Passat BlueMotion is followed by the most environmental-friendly figures you can find on a non-hybrid Passat: 76.3mpg UK on the combined cycle and 95g/km of CO2 emissions for both saloon and estate versions.

VW has modified the 118hp (120PS) 1.6TDI diesel engine by adding a selective catalytic reduction system (SCR) ‘as well as BlueMotion modifications’. Maximum power comes at 3,600rpm with the 184 lb ft (250Nm) torque available at 1,750rpm. VW says that the saloon version is capable of 10.8 seconds for the 0-62mph procedure with the estate managing it in 11 seconds. Similarly, top speed is rated at 130mph for the saloon and 129mph for the estate.

The new Passat BlueMotion is available only as a six-speed manual and features a Pre-Collision Braking System, a 6.5-inch infotainment system, start-stop and battery regeneration systems and low- rolling resistance tyres for the 17inch alloy wheels.

Prices for the new VW Passat BlueMotion start at £23,200 for the saloon and £24,750 for the estate version in the UK market.

New VW Passat Alltrack

Based on the new VW Passat Estate, the second-generation Alltrack model features a more rugged look, standard 4Motion all-wheel drive system, a 27.5mm (1in) taller and modified suspension and advanced technologies. Design-wise, the Passat Altrack gets plastic cladding around the redesigned bumpers, wheel arches and side sills, new roof rails, silver accents, as well as new standard 17-inch wheels (18- or 19-inch wheels also available). The model also gains stainless steel underbody plates to protect the car’s exposed parts.

The Passat Alltrack is offered with two turbocharged petrol units, a 150PS (148hp) 1.4-liter TSI and a 220PS (217hp) 2.0-liter TSI. Also available are three 2.0-liter diesels rated at 150PS (148hp), 190PS (187hp) and 240PS (237hp). Depending on the model, six-speed manuals and six-speed dual clutch transmissions will be available. All engines comply with the Euro6 standard and are fitted with start-stop and brake energy recovery systems.

All models have an "Off Road" function in addition to the Eco, Normal and Sport driving modes found in the regular European-spec Passat. Available driver assistance and infotainment features include an Active Information Display (fully digital instruments), a head-up display, Rear Seat Entertainment "Media Control" for tablet computers, Front Assist, Emergency Assist, traffic jam assistant and Trailer Assist.

Volkswagen Passat CC information

The CC ("Comfort Coupé") is a 4-door "coupé" version of the Passat. It debuted at the 2008 North American International Auto Show in Detroit. Originally aimed at competing with the similarly styled Mercedes CLS, the Passat CC intends to be more stylish and luxurious than the previously released Passat B6. In the U.S., the name "Passat" was dropped, and the car is being sold as "CC". Some options specific to the CC include hands-free parking, lane-departure prevention, intelligent cruise control, and adaptive suspension. Engines offered in the CC mirror those of the regular Passat, with options of the base 2.0 liter turbocharged four-cylinder, or the optional 3.6 liter V-6, which includes 4-motion all wheel drive. Although the CC is marketed as a more luxurious Passat B6, it comes in with a lower price tag. While the MSRP of a Passat B6 is $28,300, the CC comes with a base price of $27,100.
