Based on the new VW Passat Estate, the second-generation Alltrack model features a more rugged look, standard 4Motion all-wheel drive system, a 27.5mm (1in) taller and modified suspension and advanced technologies. Design-wise, the Passat Altrack gets plastic cladding around the redesigned bumpers, wheel arches and side sills, new roof rails, silver accents, as well as new standard 17-inch wheels (18- or 19-inch wheels also available). The model also gains stainless steel underbody plates to protect the car’s exposed parts.
The Passat Alltrack is offered with two turbocharged petrol units, a 150PS (148hp) 1.4-liter TSI and a 220PS (217hp) 2.0-liter TSI. Also available are three 2.0-liter diesels rated at 150PS (148hp), 190PS (187hp) and 240PS (237hp). Depending on the model, six-speed manuals and six-speed dual clutch transmissions will be available. All engines comply with the Euro6 standard and are fitted with start-stop and brake energy recovery systems.
All models have an "Off Road" function in addition to the Eco, Normal and Sport driving modes found in the regular European-spec Passat. Available driver assistance and infotainment features include an Active Information Display (fully digital instruments), a head-up display, Rear Seat Entertainment "Media Control" for tablet computers, Front Assist, Emergency Assist, traffic jam assistant and Trailer Assist.
