The updated Ford Ecosport can now be ordered without a rear-mounted spare wheel, with a "tyre mobility kit" offered in its place, and the rear hatch now offering a partial opening function. The most significant change inside is the thicker sound deadening materials in the doors and dash as well as the tighter seals around the pedals, giving the Ecosport a more refined and quieter interior. Ford has also added some new features such as a new steering design with fewer buttons, chrome-surround rings around the instrument clusters while Titanium models now have part-leather seats as standard.
Ford has also retuned the suspension, by dropping the ride height by 10mm and installing revised springs and shocks as well as a stiffer rear torsion beam. The power steering and the Electronic Stability Control have been specifically tuned with European roads in mind.
As for the engines, the only change is about the 1.5-litre TDCi diesel which now makes 5PS more, rated at 95PS (94hp) and delivering 4.4lt/100km (64mpg UK) and 115g/km of CO2 emissions. The 125PS turbocharged 1.0-litre EcoBoost petrol engine returns 5.4lt/100km (52mpg UK) and 125g/km of CO2 emissions.
